Elongate-oblong, robust, convex; black, shining; antennae and legs pale yellowish; undersurface piceous or reddish brown. Pronotum transverse, as wide as elytra at base; sides arcuate; posterior angles obtuse; margins anterior to basal angles depressed, punctate; basa; impressions densely, finely punctate. Elytra deeply striate; intervals convex, minutely alutaceous, fifth to eighth with numerous small punctures in female, very sparsely punctate in male. Length 13 - 15.5 mm. This species is often attracted to light and feeds on seeds and caterpillars.
